The performer
With his numerous appearances worldwide, Greek-Italian pianist Marios Panteliadis has received praise for his playing from audiences, artists and critics. He has performed as soloist in high profile venues; from Vienna Musikverein and Sydney Opera House to Megaron in Athens and Thessaloniki as well as St Martin-in-the-Fields in London. Other solo and chamber music recitals include his presence in Austria, Australia, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Malta, Romania, Spain, South Korea, UK and USA. Collaborations as a soloist with orchestra include Athens State Orchestra, National Greek Radio Orchestra, Petersfield Orchestra as well as Meiningen Court Orchestra with whom he performed as a pianist and conductor.
The recording artist
Marios Panteliadis’ discography includes three Albums. His debut recording features Rossini’s entire volume of Quelques Riens pour Album from the Péchés de vieillesse (November 2019, Da Vinci Classics). This double CD recorded on a modern piano, reproposes a selection of tracks performed live on Rossini’s own instrument: a historical 1844 Pleyel situated in the International Museum of Music in Bologna. Further CD projects include a recent solo recording with works by Beethoven (Bagatelles Op.33 & 126, Rondos Op.51 No.1 and 2, Rondo a capriccio Op.129, Polonaise Op.89 – September 2021, Da Vinci Classics) and his latest CD together with Mythos Trio, featuring piano trio works by 20th century Italian composers (Margola, Ghedini and Rieti – January 2022, Brilliant classics).
The chamber musician
Apart from his solo piano repertoire, Marios Panteliadis has also worked extensively on chamber music works. He has performed as a duo with the distinguished violinists George Zacharias, Fabrizio Falasca, Ilija Marinkovich and Francisco Coser, with pianists Enzo Oliva and Konstantina Vidalaki as well as in various ensembles. Furthermore, he enjoys collaborating and performing as an accompanist with internationally renowned singers such as Simona Mihai. He is the pianist of the Mythos Trio, founded in Rome, with which he appeared in Europe, South Korea and USA.
Prizes & awards
Marios has won numerous first prizes in national and international piano competitions in Greece (“Andros” 2005), Italy (“Roma” 2012, “Rospigliosi” 2012, “Magliano Sabina” 2010, “Cafaro prize” 2010 etc) and UK (“Else Cross Modern music prize” 2014). Furthermore, he has been a special prize winner at various international piano competitions such as “G. Thymis” in Thessaloniki (2017, best Greek competitor) and “Épinal international piano competition” in France; contemporary prize (2013) and French music prize (2009). In July 2015 he was a finalist at Hans von Bülow competition in Meiningen, where he performed with the historic Meiningen Court Orchestra as a soloist and conductοr. Additionally, he was selected as one of the winners of the Making Music Award for Young Concert Artists (AYCA 2014) for which he had the opportunity to perform at numerous venues around the UK.
Education & influences
Having started his piano education at the age of 5 at the Conservatory of Athens, he later had the opportunity to receive piano degrees from prestigious Institutions around the world: Royal Academy of Music in London (2013-2015), Vienna University (2010-2012), Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome (2006-2008). Tatiana Sarkissova, Noel Flores, Jan Jiracek, Sergio Perticaroli and Parry Derembey-Papastayrou have been his most important teachers and musical mentors, since they all contributed to develop his artistic personality and performance skills; besides, they guided him towards attaining the highest grades and honours in his piano studies during which he received prestigious scholarships from the Onassis and Leventis Foundations in Greece, as well as the Athena Trust in London. Further musical training that influenced him profoundly as an artist, includes special courses at the Music School of Fiesole (Florence) with Eliso Virsaladze (2013) and Trio di Parma (chamber music, 2009) as well as worldwide masterclasses with important pianists such as Aldo Ciccolini, Pascal Devoyon, William Grant Naboré, Lilia Zilberstein, France Clidat, Valery Sagaidachny, Ray Luck and Halina Siedzieniewska-Alberth.
Conducting
In addition to his piano diplomas, Marios Panteliadis has a Bachelor degree in orchestral conducting from Rome Conservatory “Santa Cecilia” (2011). during his MMus studies at the Royal Academy of Music, he has further developed his conducting skills with Prof. Paul Brough and Sian Edwards. In June 2015 he formed the MSO (Mecklenburgh Square Orchestra) consisting of music students from main music institutions in London, with whom he appeared both as a soloist and conductor; during the same year he conducted the Meininger Hofkapelle (also as soloist). Since 2017 he has participated in a number of conducting masterclasses in Athens with Michalis Economou, as well as a special courses during 2018/19 at the European conducting Academy in Vicenza with Romolo Gessi and visiting professors such as Julius Kalmar and Sigmund Thorp. He has conducted the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia orchestra, Orchestra Regionale Filarmonia Veneta, Meiningen court orchestra and City of Athens Symphony Orchestra.
Teaching
Alongside his performing activity, since November 2012 he has enjoyed being a piano teacher at Conservatorio “Santa Cecilia” of Rome on the pre-accademic level (junor department). Currently, since February 2019, he is a piano teacher at Conservatorio L. Perosi of Campobasso. In 2018 he was awarded the LRAM teaching diploma with distinction (LRAM – Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music) from the Royal Academy of Music in London. Under his careful guidance many of his pupils have succeeded on their admission exams to the Academic level in Italian Conservatories, while others have started their performing career receiving prizes on various piano competitions.
Current focus
